• Download Jabber for MAC (PKG). Your OHIO faculty/staff login is required. Run the installer that you downloaded. Make sure your computer is connected to the OHIO network (wired or eduroam wi-fi for on-campus, VPN for off-campus). Install and Set up Cisco Jabber

1. Download the Cisco Jabber Installation File for Mac (i.e., “CiscoJabberMac-14.0.2.305994.pkg”).
2. Open the file on your computer and follow the prompted installation instructions.
3. Double-click the Cisco Jabber app icon to launch Jabber from the Applications folder.
4. Before entering credentials, click Advanced settings.
5. Under Select your account type, select Cisco Communications Manager 9 or later.
6. Under Login server, select Use the following server.
7. Enter the appropriate server name based on your campus in the Server address field:
   • Ann Arbor:​ ccmsip.itcom.itcs.umich.edu
   • Dearborn: ccmdb1.umd.umich.edu
   • Flint: ccmfl1.umflint.edu

​Important: Do not cut and paste the server address from the list.

8. Click Save.
9. On the initial login/setup screen, enter the credentials provided to you by the ITS Telecommunications Analyst in the username@example.com field. These credentials are your assigned softphone 10-digit phone number appended with @umich.edu (e.g., 734XXXXXXX@umich.edu).
10. Click Continue.
11. Enter your password in the Password field.
12. Click Sign In. Jabber will open and is ready for use.

Notes:

• If this is a first-time setup, select 'Always trust for certificates from the following servers' and click Continue, if prompted.
• Reset Jabber if you receive a server information error.

Configure Options

To configure your Jabber device, click Preferences from the Jabber hub at the top of your Mac screen under Jabber.

• General
  • Jabber must be open to receive calls. If the application is not open when the number is called, the caller will be sent to voicemail (if one exists). When not on the U-M Network, you must enable the U-M VPN to use a faculty, staff, or student profile for use on your machine.
• Audio
  • The audio is dependent on the device used (e.g., PC or headset). Select the desired choice for the Ringer, Output, and Microphone.
• Calls
  • Under 'When using my desk phone for calls, bring the call window to the front,' select On all calls.
  • Under Call Forward, select Voicemail if one exists or select New Number to enter another phone number.
    • For non-UM phone numbers, use “91” followed by the 5 or 10-digit phone number.
    • Select the new number from the Forward Calls to: drop-down menu. The forwarding number will show on the main Jabber page.​

2. Launch CiscoJabberMac-12.1.1.269866.pkg.
3. Run the installation
   • Click Continue when the Welcome screen displays.
   • Click Agree after reading the license agreement to accept the terms of the license agreement and continue with the installation.
   • You may be prompted to select the disk where you want to install Jabber. Select your hard drive or another location on your computer and then click Continue.
   • Click Install to perform the standard installation.
   • At the prompt, enter your administrator account password and click Install Software.
   • When the software has finished installing, click Close.
4. Double-click the Cisco Jabber. App icon to launch Jabber from the Applications folder.
5. Before entering credentials, click Advanced Settings.
6. Select Account type > Cisco Communications Manager 9 or later.
7. Click Login Server > Use following address server 198.108.8.164. Note: do not cut & paste as this may add unwanted spaces
8. Click Save.
9. Enter credentials provided by ITS Infrastructure Telecommunications Analysts
10. Initial screen: Enter 10-digitDN@umich.edu > click Continue
11. Next screen: Username will be populated. Enter your password and sign in. Username will be populated > Enter Password > Sign In
12. First-time setup: If prompted, select Always trust for certificates from the following servers and click Continue. Always trust the list of servers.

Configure Options

To configure your Jabber device, click on the Open Call Preferences from the Jabber hub.
